What Living the Dream sharing actually supports
Living the Dream
Living the Dream uses nearby local wireless play to exchange Miis and Palette House creations. It is not an online gallery and it does not use the original 3DS QR workflow.
- Both players need their own compatible Nintendo Switch system and game.
- Both copies must run the same software version before connecting.
- The sender keeps the original Mii or creation after the transfer.
- Received work cannot be forwarded, even after it is edited or used as a base.

Unlock and start local play
Living the Dream
Local Play appears after the first two Miis become friends. To exchange Palette House creations, both players must also progress far enough to build the Palette House workshop.
- Open the menu with X and choose Local Play.
- Save when prompted, then have one player search for the other.
- Choose Mii or Creation, select the item, send it, and confirm Receive on the other system.
- Build houses for received Miis after leaving Local Play.

Transfer limits that prevent forwarding
Living the Dream
Nintendo limits local exchange to work created on the sending island. A received Mii or creation cannot be sent to someone else, even if it was edited or used as the base for something new.
- Send only Miis and Palette House work made on your own island.
- Editing received work does not make it transferable.
- A Mii created from a received Mii is still restricted from forwarding.
- Keep both players on the same software version for every session.

What Ver. 1.0.3 changed
Living the Dream · Ver. 1.0.3
The June 25, 2026 update added a local-play restriction: Miis and creations cannot be sent when the island name or player name contains numbers or text restricted from display in Living the Dream.
- Update both systems to Ver. 1.0.3 or later.
- If Send is unavailable, check both island and player names for restricted text.
- Rename the affected entry, save, and reconnect through Local Play.

Local wireless troubleshooting
Living the Dream
Most failed sessions come from version mismatch, incomplete unlock progress, or trying to forward received work rather than a connection to Nintendo Switch Online.
- Local Play missing: wait until the first two Miis become friends.
- Creation sharing missing: build Palette House on both islands.
- Players cannot connect: confirm both systems run the same update.
- Item cannot be sent: confirm it was created on the sending island.

Quick answers
Questions players ask before following this page.
Can Living the Dream Miis be shared online?
Nintendo documents nearby local wireless sharing. The game does not provide a public online Mii gallery or internet transfer workflow.
Why is Local Play missing from the menu?
The feature becomes available after the first two Miis on the island become friends. Palette House creation exchange needs additional progress on both islands.
Can a received Mii be forwarded to another player?
No. Nintendo says received Miis and creations cannot be sent again, even after edits or when used as a base.
